How Often Should You Get Acupuncture Treatments?

How frequently you should get acupuncture treatments for your condition is going to depend on the condition being treated and the length of time you’ve experienced symptoms.  The longer you have had symptoms is going to increase how many sessions you need, as well as the frequency of your acupuncture sessions.

As a general guideline, Common Ground Wellness starts patients out getting treatments once per week until your symptoms stabilize. Clients with symptoms more severe, such as a pain level of 7 out of 10 or higher, may need to get acupuncture treatments twice a week until the pain level decreases.

Shelby explains how often you need to get acupuncture to get results.

Your acupuncturist will monitor your progress and adjust how often you should get acupuncture treatments based on your results.  Once your symptoms stabilize, and you feel well from one treatment to the next, we will decrease how often you should get acupuncture treatments.  If you are seeking support for low-level, chronic issues, we often recommend acupuncture treatments every 2 weeks or once per month.

How Often Should You Get Acupuncture for Chronic Pain?

For ongoing pain conditions, we typically recommend starting with once-weekly sessions. If your pain level is a 7 or higher, twice a week can help you see relief faster. As your symptoms improve, sessions taper to every other week, then monthly for maintenance.

How Often Should You Get Acupuncture for Fertility Support?

Fertility patients often benefit from a more consistent weekly rhythm, since hormonal and reproductive cycles respond well to steady treatment over time. We'll tailor frequency to where you are in your fertility journey.

How Often Should You Get Acupuncture for Stress and Anxiety?

For stress, anxiety, or general wellness support, once every 2 weeks to once a month is often enough once you've stabilized, though weekly sessions during high-stress periods can offer extra support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it okay to get acupuncture every day?

Daily acupuncture isn't typically necessary and isn't the standard approach. Most patients see the best results with once or twice weekly sessions, tapering as symptoms improve.

How many sessions until I see results?

Many patients notice initial changes within 3-5 sessions, though this varies by condition and how long you've had symptoms. Your acupuncturist will adjust your plan as you progress.
